It was built next to the Torre del Rey (King's Tower) four centuries after the latter, and its proximity makes the differences between the two constructions even more striking at first glance.
The lighthouse was inaugurated in 1857 and immediately became a key element for maritime traffic in the area, with all that this meant for the development of trade in Orpesa/Oropesa del Mar, a bastion of economic and social progress in the town that undoubtedly anticipated Orpesa/Oropesa del Mar's definitive entry into the 20th century in excellent conditions.
