The festival of St James takes place in Oropesa del Mar when the summer tourist season is in full swing (25 July) which means that visitors can join in on the festivities along with locals. Street parties, 'vaquillas' (a running contest between heifers and townspeople) and 'toros embolados' (an informal running of a bull, whose horns are covered for safety) are some of the events that have been organised, in addition to the special activities for children.
