These walls are part of the wall that Pedro IV of Aragon ordered to build Jofré de Thous (lord of Oropesa del Mar) to protect its inhabitants from the constant attacks of pirtatas in the fourteenth century.
In the seventeenth century, a new wall of regular layout was built with artillery bastions (one over the old prison) improving the fortification of the town.
