The Corda and the Colomera towers

If you look at the profile of the coast of Orpesa/Oropesa del Mar on the north side you will find a smooth and uniform coastline, easy to see. This is not the case if you look to the south, where the Renegá area is located, with its small coves and steep relief.

The watchtowers or watchtowers were built to assist the Torre del Rey (King's Tower) in its surveillance work, increasing control over the coast. It appears in the 1728 inventory of weapons and personnel in the towers of the district of Castellón, made by order of the Prince of Campoflorido, and it states that it was equipped with: two muskets, two botavanes, thirty-five musket balls, gunpowder, four pounds, and fuse rope, two rods, and the following soldiers served: Jaime Boix and Vicente Perciva, foot soldiers. It is located next to the coast between the Del Rey towers to the north and Colomera to the south. It stands on a limestone promontory from the Lower Cretaceous, surrounded by kermes oak and palmetto trees.

Nowadays, no longer of strategic value, they are still a reference point where you can experience the juxtaposed sensations of breeze and sea, a perfect music to observe the architecture of nature over a native vegetation of incredible shapes.
